Visnja Djordjic, PhD

Visnja Djordjic gained her PhD from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Novi Sad, in 2002, after completing BA and MA in Physical Education and Sports at the same University. She works as a Professor in the Physical Education and Sports field at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Novi Sad. She also teaches at the Faculty of Pedagogy in Sombor and Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad. Her main field of expertise is Physical Education Teaching/Learning and Physical Activity Promotion. Prof. Djordjic has published more than 150 articles on physical education, health promotion, and gender issues in physical education and sport in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She has been editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Exercise and Quality of Life for years, and a reviewer of scientific papers, chapters, and books. Recent projects she has been involved in include the WHO European Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative (COSI) (2015-2016), (2018-2019); preparation of the Physical Activity Country Fact Sheet for WHO European Region; Physical activity of Vojvodina’s population in the context of EU integration. She is currently serving as the Head of the Physical and Health Education Unit at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Novi Sad, and as the president of the Teaching License Examination Committee. Prof. Djordjic has a wide experience in reform initiatives in education in Serbia. She was a member of the National Commission for Physical and Health Education area in Serbian reform initiative in 2002-2003. As a prominent academic in the field of Physical Education, she has been an appointed member of the National Educational Council of the Republic of Serbia, and also a leading member of the expert group to develop the Strategy of School Sport Development in Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Prof. Djordjic is a member of the national and provincial professional associations of Physical Education teachers, and she has developed and delivered numerous professional training for PE teachers and coaches. Used to be a gymnast, gymnastic coach, and judge.
